A bouquet of fresh flowers was kept on the seat beside Aiyana, her fingers curled around them and her eyes wandering outside, gazing at the dusky sky. She ignored Devansh’s eyes on her. The silence between them was too loud, but neither of them spoke a word—until Devansh stood up from his place and got on his knees in front of her, making Aiyana look at him abruptly at his act.
“Haah jaan, I’m sorry. I had an important matter to look into personally and solve. Baby, I’m sorry,” he pleaded in front of her.
She looked at him, her eyes soft at his act.
“I’m not angry because you left to work without saying, but I’m sad you didn’t answer me when I wanted to talk to you,” she whispered.
The Ferris wheel lights cast a soft glow across her beautiful face.
“I promise, jaan… I’ll never make you sad.”
He held her hand softly in his big one and gently placed a kiss.
“Hum wada karte hai, aaj se kabhi koi karan nahi denge jisse aap dukhi ho.”
(I promise from today that I’ll never give you a reason to be sad.)
“I want you to be happy always. And I’ll make sure that happens, I promise, jaan.”
“Aur wo cheez nahi bachegi jo aapko kabhi dukh de,” he whispered with a glint of darkness in his eyes, so softly that she was unable to hear.
His head was lowered in front of her, preventing her from seeing him.
“Ky…” before she could complete, he left her hand and cupped her face, going so close to her that their breaths fanned across each other.
She gasped, her cheeks creeping pink due to their sudden close proximity. Her stomach flipped when he suddenly closed the distance between them. The little caress he was doing with his thumb and the gaze of his love-filled eyes—she dared not look at.
“Y… you. I… me… Aanya, you…” she stuttered, trying to get away from him.
“Hmmm, mai aur aap… wo toh theek hai, par ye beech me Aanya kahan se aayi, hmm?” he teased with a husky voice, his nose nuzzling her neck.
